Assistant Ginner - Cotton
Location: Wee Waa, NSW
  • Work in regional NSW for an industry leader
  • Use your trade qualifications / mechanical experience in this ‘hands-on’ role
  • Work with and learn new skills from an experienced team

About the job

Our Cotton Gin facilities receive and process raw cotton to remove cotton seed and compress clean lint into cotton bales ready for export.  For part of the year, you will help lead seasonal teams to safely run 12-hour shifts (day or night) to meet production targets and budgets. For the rest of the year, as part of the permanent team, you will be heavily involved in the repairs and preventative maintenance program.

It's important that you are responsible, interested in learning new skills, and you'll need to be mechanically minded with some hands on experience with machinery, welding etc.

A bit about us

Queensland Cotton is owned by Olam, a global leader in supply chain management of agricultural commodities. In December we celebrated our 100 year anniversary - that's a century of proudly supporting the ag industry here in Australia.

We operate in multiple products including cotton, cottonseed, chickpeas and mung beans, and our colleagues across 30 plus countries, handle dozens of other commodities too. We are looking at a few big cotton crops so it is an exciting time to join the team.

Why you'll enjoy working at Queensland Cotton

  • Interesting and varied work - no two days will be the same!
  • Friendly, culturally diverse, and highly experienced team
  • Annual pay reviews based on CPI

Who we seek

If you’re an experienced Ginner, we’d love to hear from you! We appreciate it’s a small industry, so we’re inviting tradies (or equivalent) from other industries with experience in a production / maintenance environment to apply.  Alternatively if you're ambitious, hard working and you have some mechanical experience we will help train you up to become a Ginner.

You will of course need to be an ethical person, hard-working and safety-aware, able to think on your feet and troubleshoot, and take accountability to get results by working well with colleagues.

It's time to apply

If this opportunity speaks to you, apply now! You’ll be asked to answer some screening questions to help us with screening.

Only Australian based employees with full work rights need apply.  You must be confident of passing our pre-employment medical and drug screen as we have a zero-tolerance policy to drugs.
